June 25, 1943

Dear Mom, Pop, Jerry, Mary & Mat,

Do I owe letters? This is the first one I have written this week so you can imagine how busy I have been. Together with the heat and all this homework I am slowly but surely going nuts.
For the next eleven days I am room captain. No, it is not a great honor but only a pain in the neck. Each room-mate takes his turn. The room captain is responsible for keeping the floors swept, furniture dusted and all in all, keeping the room neat. You can imagine how this room loks after 8 wild men get finished with it. Clothes drapped all over the chairs, paper on the floor, beds all messed up. Yip what a job.
Monday I have off. Ha Ha what a laugh. Actually we are moving to downtown Troy in a fraternity house. The V-12 is coming in on July 1st so they have to move us out. Our battalion is the only one htat is going off the campus. I guess we are the slobs of this outfit. Note the address on this envelope. That will be my quarters from now on. Boy- will I keep up my girlish figure now. From Troy up to R.P.I. there are 283 steps. Everyday I will climb up and down this pyramid.
Still not definite as to whether I can get home on the 3rd. Will know definitely Monday or Tuesday. As soon as it is definate I will call you.
                                                                      Your loving son,
                                                                                   Jim

P.S. You can send that $6.00 telephone bill to my lawyer. Ha Ha.
