Dear Folks,
Well, I arrived on time with five minutes to spare. Came into Albany at 8:55. There were about one hundred other cadets on the train and as you can imagine there was one mad-rush out of the terminal. There were about twenty dabs outside so the took care of the rest of the transportation to R.P.I. The trip into Troy reminded me of those gang wars you see in the movies. The cabbies were holding the doors open and as soon as the car was filled, away they would go. Racing through the streets at 50 mph, passing the red lights, screeching around corners, one cab behind the other. Boy- what perfect mass movement.
I had to laugh at some young guard down at the Albany terminal. As the train came in, the cadets jumped off and race up the ramp. This guard yelled "no running!". Well, the next thing I saw the guard doing was battling to get out of our way. No kidding, that was a stampede.
Boy did I work yesterday. After eight hours of classes, I worked on homework for 4 1/2 hrs. It's a good thing that they make you go to bed at 2200 or most of the nights, I would be burning the mid-night lamp.
Thanks for everything. Maybe next time I am home I will be able to stay around the house a little longer.
I have to hit the books now.
Your loving son,
Jim
P.S. Is it hot today. Whew.
